Jerome D. Waring III, a 23-year-old Black/African American man from Milwaukee, was killed in an early-morning shooting on June 19, 2025. The gunfire erupted shortly after 6:00 a.m. in the area of North Hopkins Street and West Fairmount Avenue on Milwaukee’s northwest side. Milwaukee police responding to the scene found that two people had been shot.
Waring suffered fatal gunshot injuries and died at the scene.
A second victim, identified by authorities only as a 19-year-old, was also wounded in the shooting. That person was transported to a hospital for treatment and was expected to survive. Police did not publicly describe the relationship between Waring and the surviving victim or disclose whether the two were together when the shooting began.
