In the quiet community of Saltville, Virginia, a violent encounter led to the death of Michael Stonewall Blevins. On a Thursday, deputies from the Smyth County Sheriff's Office were called to a residence located in the 400 block of Dry Cove Lane. Upon their arrival, they, along with officers from the Saltville and Chilhowie police departments, discovered the body of Blevins. The 28-year-old man had been fatally shot.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect.
Authorities identified 26-year-old Skyler Hughes as the individual responsible for the death of Blevins. Hughes was promptly taken into custody by law enforcement.
Following his arrest, Skyler Hughes was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Michael Stonewall Blevins. The Smyth County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
