Death by Force

Breanna Bates, 25, a Black/African American female, was shot and killed in Newberry, South Carolina, on Monday, May 19, 2025. Around 3:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1800 block of Charles Street and found Bates suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy later confirmed she died from those injuries, according to the Newberry County Coroner’s Office.
