Qualin Dorsey, a 28-year-old Black male, was shot and killed on the evening of September 9, 2025, at a home in the 6000 block of Diantha Street in west Harris County, near Katy. Deputies arrived after a 911 call from his wife, who told dispatchers she had shot him during a fight that had turned physical. Paramedics and deputies attempted aid, but he died at the scene from at least one gunshot wound.
Their young son was in the home and was later placed with family while investigators worked to piece together what happened.
Detectives interviewed Dorsey’s wife at length that night. Authorities said she was not arrested at the scene; instead, the case would be presented to a Harris County grand jury to decide whether criminal charges were warranted. Investigators described the episode as a domestic disturbance that escalated, locating the scene near West Little York and Highway 99 and noting that crime scene and homicide units processed the home for evidence into the night.
Dorsey was later memorialized by family and friends in Katy, with an obituary noting he grew up in Houston, attended George Bush High School, served in the U.S. Army beginning in 2015, and was remembered as an entrepreneurial “jack of all trades” who loved his family, motorcycles, cars, and days at the gun range. As of the latest reporting, authorities had announced no arrests connected to his death beyond the planned grand jury review.
