On the night of May 21, 2025, in a home on the 800 block of Brooklyn Street in West Philadelphia, 12-year-old Nashon Thomas, a Black male, lay in bed when a single gunshot shattered the quiet. Officers who answered the 9 p.m. hour call found Nashon Thomas, age 12, unresponsive with a wound to the head and rushed him to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was pronounced dead at 9:42 p.m. The scene held a recovered firearm, a grieving family, and questions that would quickly focus on ...
