In Ambridge, Pennsylvania, a dispute between two men who were once friends culminated in a fatal shooting that left one of them, 26-year-old Mason Lang-Goins, dead. The incident, which took place on a Tuesday afternoon on Church Street, was the result of what authorities have described as an ongoing issue between Lang-Goins and the alleged gunman, Nicholas Tyler Andrews, who was also 26 years old.
The conflict between the two men had reportedly been escalating over social media.
According to Lang-Goins's family, the arguments began over the mother of Lang-Goins's child. What started as a war of words online tragically spilled over into real-world violence. On the day of the shooting, Lang-Goins went to Andrews's home to confront him. The confrontation ended with Andrews allegedly shooting Lang-Goins.
Following the sound of four or five gunshots that rang out in the neighborhood, it was Andrews himself who placed a call to 911. When police arrived, they found Mason Lang-Goins at the scene with gunshot wounds to his arm and torso. Despite any medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Beaver County Deputy Coroner. Investigators found a black Rock Island. 38 special revolver and six spent shell casings at the location.
Nicholas Tyler Andrews was taken into custody at the scene. He was subsequently charged with criminal homicide and is being held in the Beaver County Jail without bond. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 17th. The death of Mason Lang-Goins, a father to a young son, has left his family and friends mourning the loss of a man they described as a good person who was deeply loved and had a generous spirit.
