Carter Franklin Lee Smith, 10, a White/Caucasian male, died on Monday, September 29, 2025, after being shot in the head at a home in Burns, Tennessee. Deputies with the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence that night and the child was taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where he was pronounced dead. News reports identified the location and timing of the shooting and confirmed his death the same night.
