Ashley Morris Fonseca, 37, a Hispanic woman from Toledo, was shot inside her apartment on the morning of June 25, 2025, and was pronounced dead the following evening, June 26, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. The Lucas County Coroner determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
Police were dispatched at 9:03 a.m. to Boulder Creek Apartments at 1255 South Byrne Road, where they found Fonseca gravely wounded.
She received on-scene medical treatment before being transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators identified her boyfriend, 46-year-old Lawrence Moore, as the gunman. He was found at the scene with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead there, and detectives concluded he shot Fonseca before turning the gun on himself. Because Moore died at the scene, there were no arrests; authorities described the case as a murder-suicide and did not indicate any additional suspects were being sought.
In the days that followed, local reporting noted Fonseca's death and the donation of her organs, while obituary notices confirmed her identity and the date she died.
