On the afternoon of June 28, 2025, Janae Winnick, 46, a woman from Cleveland, was shot while seated in a vehicle on the 6700 block of Schaefer Avenue on the city’s East Side. Police were called just after 3:37 p.m. to reports of multiple people shot; Janae Winnick, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 15-year-old girl riding with her was struck in the leg and taken to a hospital.
