Jayden McIlwain, a 16-year-old male and Black/African American from Charlotte, North Carolina, died on June 28, 2025. That Saturday evening, first responders were called to the 8800 block of Kirkville Lane in the city’s North Division after a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived around 7:40 p.m., they found Jayden McIlwain with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC.
