Nyfik Johnson, 29, a Black/African American male from Philadelphia, was celebrating at a birthday barbecue on the evening of July 26, 2025, when gunfire erupted on the 1900 block of West Hunting Park Avenue in the city’s Nicetown/39th District. Officers responding around 8:22 p.m. found two men shot multiple times; Nyfik Johnson was rushed by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds to the body and head.
