Christopher Bourn, 31, a Black man, was shot and killed just after 1 a.m. on July 6, 2025, outside Agenda Sports Bar & Grill on Matzinger Road in north Toledo. Responding officers found four people struck by gunfire; Bourn was discovered in the street with at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lucas County Coroner later confirmed he died of a gunshot wound to the head and ruled the death a homicide.
The violence unfolded during a deadly holiday weekend in the city. Hours after Bourn’s death, police announced that a second victim from the same shooting, 37-year-old Stefan Garrett, had also died at the hospital; two additional victims were transported in critical condition. Local outlets reported the scene was cordoned off as detectives processed evidence and interviewed witnesses in the parking area outside the club.
In the days that followed, authorities appealed for tips to Crime Stoppers while city officials pursued nuisance-abatement action against the business. A judge first ordered the bar temporarily padlocked and, later, closed it for one year, citing the July 6 killings and a pattern of police calls tied to the location. These closures came alongside broader community responses and statements from city leaders about the spate of holiday-weekend homicides.
As of the publicly released police updates and local reporting available, detectives had not announced any arrests nor identified a suspect in Bourn’s killing. The investigation remained open, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
