On the evening of July 17, 2025, officers were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to the area of West Fairview Avenue and Emerson Avenue in Dayton, Ohio, after multiple reports of gunfire. They found Shawn Irvin, age 55, male, inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

By the following morning, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office publicly identified the victim as Shawn Irvin, age 55, male, from Dayton. The shooting drew a heavy police response, and detec ...
