In the early morning hours of Friday, July 11, 2025, a dispute between acquaintances in Yonkers, New York, turned fatal, leaving one man dead from a single gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 35-year-old Francisco Vallejo. The incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Ludlow Street and Riverdale Avenue.
When Yonkers Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Vallejo with a gunshot wound to his head.
First responders immediately began to render aid and transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he succumbed to them shortly after his arrival.
An investigation was promptly launched by detectives from the Major Case Squad, the Digital Forensics Unit, and the Crime Scene Unit. Their preliminary findings indicated that Vallejo and the suspect knew each other and were involved in a disagreement that escalated tragically. The suspect allegedly fired one shot at Vallejo before fleeing the scene.
Through a combined effort of detectives, patrol units, and the Yonkers Crime Control Center, investigators were able to track the suspect to an apartment near the intersection of Radford Street and Riverdale Avenue. Several hours after the shooting, Fidencio Abreu, a 41-year-old resident of Yonkers, was taken into custody without incident.
Abreu was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Westchester County Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail. The case is being prosecuted by the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.
