Steven Lee Wheeler, 26, a Black man from Charlotte, was shot and killed just after 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025, outside the Brooklyn Nightclub & Lounge on the 200 block of North Caldwell Street in Uptown. Off-duty officers nearby heard the gunfire and rushed toward the scene; MEDIC pronounced Steven Lee Wheeler, 26, dead where he fell. Police later released his full name and age, and notified next of kin.
