On the morning of Saturday, May 17, 2025, a violent disturbance erupted at the Lakewood Mobile Home Park in Springfield, Missouri. Greene County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene after a 911 caller reported hearing a commotion followed by the distinct sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered two men suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
The victims were later identified as 28-year-old Edyn Inestroza Gutierrez and 35-year-old Gustavo Maradiaga Salgado, both of whom were originally from Honduras.
The investigation began immediately as detectives cordoned off the area to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses residing in the mobile home park. The initial inquiry revealed that the two men had been staying at the residence where they were found. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators identified and detained a person of interest who was believed to be connected to the incident. This individual was taken into custody for questioning as authorities worked to piece together the events that led to the double homicide.
Despite the early detention, the investigation hit a hurdle when the person of interest was subsequently released from custody. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office stated that no charges were filed against the individual at that time, and they continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths. As of the last available reports following the incident, the case remained active with detectives seeking further leads to identify a suspect and determine a motive for the killings.
