Derek Gonzalez, 32, a Hispanic/Latino male, was shot on the afternoon of May 18, 2025, after a traffic encounter escalated from Grindstone Parkway into the parking lot of the McDonald’s in the 500 block of East Nifong Boulevard in Columbia, Missouri. Police were called at about 12:40 p.m. and found two gunshot victims; both were taken to a local hospital, where Gonzalez was pronounced dead.
