On the night of April 17, 2011, the quiet of a late spring evening was shattered at an apartment complex located at 7711 North La Porte Avenue, just north of Columbia, Missouri. Inside one of the units, 27-year-old African American resident Donnell G. Coleman was at home with a 25-year-old woman and a young child, approximately four years of age.
