In the borough of Queens, a life was cut short on a Sunday evening in early September. Daquan Monroe, a 29-year-old man from the Rosedale neighborhood, became the victim of a fatal shooting on September 7, 2025. The incident unfolded in a parking lot located behind a building on Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in Jamaica.
Responding to a 911 call about an assault in progress at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the 113th Precinct discovered Monroe with gunshot wounds to his neck and
shoulder. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and quickly transported him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Daquan Monroe was pronounced dead at the hospital.
As of now, the circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear. The New York City Police Department has not released a description of any potential suspect or suspects, and the motive for the killing is still under investigation. No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and the investigation continues.
