In the small community of Shannon, Mississippi, a grim discovery shattered the peace of a late spring day. On Friday, May 23, 2025, 43-year-old Frank West and a companion, 39-year-old Cambre Dean, were found dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Their bodies were located at a mobile home property on County Road 295, just outside the city limits. Both West and Dean were residents of the Shannon area.
Responding to a disturbance call, deputies from the Lee County Sheriff's Department arrived
at the property and, after speaking with the owner, conducted a search of the grounds. It was during this search that they came across the bodies of West and Dean. The investigation that followed quickly led to a person of interest who was present at the scene.
Authorities interviewed 39-year-old Jonathan Kelly, a local resident who was on the property when law enforcement arrived. Based on the interview and physical evidence collected at the scene, Kelly was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Frank West and Cambre Dean.
Following his arrest, Jonathan Kelly was transported to the Lee County Jail. A bond was set at $10 million by the Lee County Justice Court. The bodies of both victims were sent to the State Medical Examiner's office in Pearl for autopsies to officially determine the cause of death. While an arrest has been made, the motive behind the killings has not been publicly released by authorities as the investigation continues.
