In the quiet town of Louisville, Mississippi, a Tuesday night in June turned tragic, ending the life of Quincy Markez Haynes, a 24-year-old Black male. On June 17, 2025, Haynes was fatally wounded in what authorities described as a drive-by shooting. The incident also resulted in injuries to three other individuals who were identified as Javontay Ty'Quaz Harrison, Julius Kanard Love Jr., and Xzarrion Pippin.
The response from law enforcement was swift.
A joint investigation was launched by the Louisville Police Department and the Winston County Sheriff's Office. Their efforts quickly led to a breakthrough. By Wednesday, June 18, 2025, two suspects were in custody. The authorities arrested 18-year-old Ja'Lavian Hunt and 30-year-old Terence Randall Griffin Jr., both residents of Louisville. A third individual was initially detained but was later released after investigators received new information. A key piece of evidence, the vehicle believed to have been used in the commission of the crime, was successfully recovered by officers from the Philadelphia Police Department.
Following the arrests, the legal process began to unfold. Ja'Lavian Hunt faced serious charges, including one count of 2nd Degree Murder, three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and one count of Shooting into a Dwelling. His bond was set at a total of $1,600,000. Terence Randall Griffin Jr. was charged with one count of Accessory Before the Fact of 2nd Degree Murder, one count of Accessory After the Fact of 2nd Degree Murder, three counts of Accessory Before the Fact of Aggravated Assault, and three counts of Accessory After the Fact of Aggravated Assault. His bond was set at $800,000. Both men were scheduled to appear in Louisville Municipal Court for an initial hearing as the investigation into the shooting continued.
