In the late hours of a Friday evening in D'Iberville, Mississippi, the life of 34-year-old Lazavious Young of Gulfport was tragically cut short. On July 11, 2025, events unfolded that would end in gunfire and a startling crash, leaving a community in shock and a family in mourning. Young was behind the wheel of his car when he was struck by a gunshot, a fatal wound that caused him to lose control of his vehicle.
The car then crashed into a home in the vicinity of Octave Street and Dina Drive, coming to a stop in a neighboring yard.
Responding to reports of gunshots around 10 p.m., D'Iberville police officers arrived at the chaotic scene to find the damaged vehicle and Young deceased in the driver's seat. The Harrison County Coroner later confirmed that a gunshot wound was the cause of death.
