In the early morning hours of July 2, 2022, a beloved father and friend, Trey Lamar Dedeaux, 34, tragically lost his life in D'Iberville, Mississippi. He was a Black / African American man known for his warm personality and the strong connections he maintained with his family and community. His sudden death sent ripples of shock and grief through those who knew him.
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. outside of Reno's Sports Pub on Rodriguez Street. D'Iberville police were called to the scene where they discovered two men, one of whom was Trey Dedeaux, unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds to the head. An investigation into the circumstances of the shooting began immediately.
Through interviews with witnesses and a review of surveillance footage, law enforcement determined that the event was a murder-suicide. The shooter was identified as 32-year-old Wiltavis Brown of Biloxi. According to police, Brown shot Dedeaux before turning the gun on himself. Both men died from single gunshot wounds. The motive behind this tragic act remains under investigation by authorities as the community continues to seek answers for the senseless loss of a man remembered as someone who never met a stranger and left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
