In the quiet evening of July 18, 2025, a somber discovery was made in Walls, Mississippi, a small town where life usually unfolds at a gentle pace. A caller alerted authorities to an unresponsive person lying near a pond in the 3000 block of Camilla Circle West. When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene shortly after 8 p.m., they found a young Black/African American man on the ground.
The man, identified as 22-year-old Kennetz Daniels of Edwards, Mississippi, had sustained what police described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Emergency responders initiated life-saving measures and quickly transported Daniels to Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in the nearby city of Southaven. Despite their efforts, Kennetz Daniels was pronounced dead at approximately 9:19 p.m. The news of the young man's death cast a pall over the community, with public memorials and community databases later recording his passing as having occurred in the Lake Cormorant area of DeSoto County, highlighting the overlapping nature of the small communities in the region.
In the aftermath of the tragic event, authorities began their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Daniels' death. According to official statements, the wound appeared to be self-inflicted. As a result, law enforcement did not announce any suspects in connection with the incident.
