On the evening of August 24, 2025, officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call regarding a shooting in the Walnut Park West neighborhood. Around 8:40 p.m., police arrived at the 5000 block of Goodfellow Boulevard in north St. Louis. Upon searching the area, they discovered a 46-year-old male, identified as Corey Exum, lying in the rear of a building.
He had sustained multiple puncture wounds consistent with gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
Homicide detectives launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the St. Louis County resident. The initial inquiry focused on determining the events that led to the fatal shooting behind the building.
