In the quiet town of Alliance, Nebraska, a heart-wrenching event shattered the peace on August 21, 2025. Melody Stinnette, a 65-year-old Caucasian female, was tragically killed in a domestic shooting. The incident unfolded near Big Horn Avenue and West Seventh Street, where law enforcement would soon uncover a grim scene.
Alliance police officers and the Box Butte County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call that morning.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Melody deceased outside of a residence. Inside, they found her husband, 73-year-old Douglas Stinnette, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The initial investigation pointed to a murder-suicide perpetrated by Douglas.
Douglas Stinnette was immediately transported to Box Butte General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later airlifted to a hospital in Scottsbluff for advanced medical care.
