In the quiet Alpine Village apartment community of La Vista, Nebraska, a tragedy unfolded on the night of November 6, 2018, ending the life of 73-year-old Charlotte J. Weaver, a Caucasian female. The events of that evening began to take a grim turn around 11:15 p.m., when a distressing 911 call was placed to the Sarpy County emergency dispatch.
The caller was Charlotte's husband, Herman J. Weaver.
In a chilling confession to the operator, he stated that he had just shot his wife and intended to take his own life. During the open phone line, the dispatcher heard a sound believed to be a gunshot. Police were immediately sent to the couple's residence on Plaza Boulevard.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a tragic scene. Charlotte Weaver was found deceased inside the home. Her husband, Herman, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest but was still alive. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Bergan Mercy Hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
