In the early morning hours of August 9, 2025, a violent series of events unfolded at a Circle K gas station in Holly Springs, Mississippi, that would tragically end the life of 19-year-old Ar'riel Denton. The incident began with a domestic dispute at the gas pumps involving a man and a woman. This escalated into a shooting where 28-year-old Keldrick Wiseman was shot and killed.
In the immediate aftermath of the initial shooting, Darian Montrell McKinney, who was a suspect in Wiseman's
death, fled the scene in a white or silver compact SUV. Ar'riel Denton was a passenger in this vehicle. As the SUV was pulling away from the gas station, another individual, identified as 24-year-old Shinia Richard, allegedly fired multiple shots into the rear of the fleeing vehicle. One of these bullets is believed to have shattered the back window, striking Denton in the back of the head and killing her instantly.
The vehicle carrying Denton eventually wrecked in a ditch on Haven Acres, about two miles from the gas station. When law enforcement arrived at the crash scene, they found Denton had succumbed to her wounds.
The investigation, a joint effort by the Holly Springs Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force, quickly identified two suspects. Shinia Richard was arrested at the scene and charged with the murder of Ar'riel Denton. Darian Montrell McKinney, the driver of the vehicle Denton was in and a suspect in Keldrick Wiseman's murder, initially fled but later turned himself into the Marshall County Sheriff's Office. Both McKinney and Richard are being held on murder charges at the Marshall County Jail as the investigation continues.
