In the quiet community of Carthage, Mississippi, a devastating discovery was made on August 24, 2024, leaving a family and community in mourning. On that day, 28-year-old Kelly Nicole Duarte was found deceased inside a residence on Highway 488 in the Freetrade community. A friend, concerned after not hearing from her all day, went to check on her and tragically found her unresponsive on the floor.
Leake County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the home at approximately 3:58 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered two other deceased individuals at the scene: Robert Devon Walker, aged 23, and Reynaldo Duarte, who was identified as Kelly's husband. Reynaldo Duarte was found hanging and unresponsive.
Investigators from the Leake County Sheriff's Office processed the scene and recovered multiple spent shell casings as well as a firearm from inside the home. All three individuals, Kelly Nicole Duarte, Robert Devon Walker, and Reynaldo Duarte, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Leake County Coroner's Office.
The investigation into the tragic deaths of the three individuals is being handled by the Leake County Sheriff's Office. At this time, no information regarding any arrests or outstanding suspects has been released, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Kelly Nicole Duarte was a mother of four.
