On July 6, 2023, 34-year-old Tiarra Pinkston was fatally shot while resting on her couch at her residence on Violet Street in Newton, Mississippi. The incident occurred around 4 a.m., when multiple gunshots were fired into her apartment, one of which struck and killed her. At the time of the shooting, two children, aged 5 and 13, were present in the home but were unharmed.
