On a tragic autumn morning, the community of Pearl, Mississippi, was irrevocably shattered by a wave of violence that claimed the life of 16-year-old Christina Michelle Menefee. On October 1, 1997, Menefee, a student at Pearl High School, was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend, 16-year-old Luke Woodham. The attack began before the school day even started, when Woodham, armed with a rifle, entered the school and opened fire. Menefee was his first target.
