In the evening hours of June 18, 2025, the life of 53-year-old Huey Dewayne Sonnier Sr. was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Around 9:04 p.m., police responded to a call at the corner of Canocicus and Navajo streets, where they found Sonnier suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he later died from his injuries.
