Ashton Hams, a 37-year-old Black male, was shot and killed on the night of September 17, 2025, near the intersection of East 10th Street and Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. Officers were dispatched just before 9:30 p.m. after multiple callers reported the sound of gunfire; they found Hams unresponsive on the east side of the intersection, outside an apartment complex, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
