In the Mark Twain neighborhood of St. Louis, a street argument on a Saturday afternoon escalated into a fatal exchange of gunfire, leaving one young man dead and another critically injured. On September 27, 2025, 23-year-old Tishon Wordlaw, a Black male from O'Fallon, Missouri, was involved in a heated confrontation in the 5300 block of Ruskin Avenue.
The dispute tragically culminated in both Wordlaw and a 29-year-old man drawing firearms and shooting at each other.
Police were summoned to the scene just after 2:30 p.m., where they discovered both men suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported both individuals to a nearby hospital. Wordlaw's injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The second man was admitted in critical but stable condition.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division has taken charge of the ongoing investigation. At this time, no arrests have been announced in connection with the death of Tishon Wordlaw. Detectives are continuing to process evidence and are appealing to the public for any information that may shed further light on the circumstances that led to the deadly shootout.
