In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 20, 2025, the life of 29-year-old Demetrius Prince was cut short by gun violence in Macon, Mississippi. Deputies from the Noxubee County Sheriff's Department were called to a location known as Chubby's on Prairie Point Road shortly after 1:30 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Prince deceased at the scene. The male victim had sustained fatal injuries from a shooting incident.
The investigation into the death of Demetrius Prince led authorities to identify 39-year-old Tvaris Taylor as a suspect. Through their detective work, investigators learned that Taylor may have also been injured in the incident. They began contacting hospitals in the region, which led them to Tupelo, Mississippi. There, they received a tip that Taylor was at a local hospital's emergency room. Working with the Tupelo Police Department, Noxubee County deputies were able to travel to Tupelo and apprehend Taylor within 24 hours of the shooting.
Following his arrest, Tvaris Taylor was charged with the murder of Demetrius Prince. He is currently being held in the Noxubee County Jail. The Noxubee County Sheriff's Department has stated that the investigation is ongoing and that more arrests could be possible. Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the case, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in solving violent crimes.
