In the summer of 2025, the life of 20-year-old Jonathan Neal Bernard was cut short in a burst of gunfire in Lake Charles, Louisiana. A native of the city and an alumnus of Washington-Marion High School, Bernard was known for his quiet nature and a warm smile that could fill a room. He was a devoted father, working diligently to build a future for his young son, Ja’Kaie Nazier Bernard.
