In the early morning hours of July 16, 2025, the life of Eddie Johnson, a 41-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in his Baton Rouge, Louisiana home. The fatal incident unfolded around 3:15 a.m. in the 5300 block of Bank Street, a neighborhood located off of Airline Highway. In an act of violence, an unknown individual or individuals fired multiple gunshots into Johnson's residence.
Struck in the back by the gunfire, Johnson succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Baton Rouge Police Department's Homicide Division was quick to launch an investigation into the deadly shooting. However, in the immediate aftermath, authorities had not yet identified a motive for the attack, nor had they named any potential suspects.
The case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact the Violent Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers. As of now, no arrests have been announced in connection with the death of Eddie Johnson, leaving a community to mourn and await answers.
