On a summer day in Detroit, Michigan, tragedy struck, claiming the life of 34-year-old Maria Jenkins. On July 28, 2025, Jenkins was at a gas station on the city's west side when a gunman opened fire. The incident resulted in a quadruple shooting that left two people dead, including Jenkins, and two others hospitalized in serious condition. Another victim who lost his life in the shooting was identified as 32-year-old Martin Clay.
In the wake of the deadly shooting, an investigation was
launched, leading to the arrest of a suspect. A man from Hazel Park was taken into custody in connection with the incident that resulted in the deaths of Maria Jenkins and Martin Clay.
Following the arrest, the Hazel Park man was formally charged with murder for his alleged role in the fatal shooting at the Detroit gas station. News of the charges brought a measure of progress in a case that had abruptly ended the lives of two individuals and injured two others. A GoFundMe campaign was also established to assist Maria Jenkins' family in the aftermath of the tragedy.
