Syruss L. Box, age 15, a Black male from south suburban Posen, spent the afternoon of May 17, 2025, with family on Chicago's Far South Side, celebrating his little brother's birthday. As evening settled over the Roseland neighborhood, around 6:04 p.m., Syruss L. Box, age 15, male, stood near the sidewalk in the 400 block of West 110th Street when a car rolled up and gunfire shattered the gathering.
