In the early afternoon of a Sunday in August 2025, a young man named Victor Bastardo Reyes was found lying in the roadway in Takoma Park, Maryland. The 20-year-old male had been shot. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Avenue.
Responding officers discovered Mr. Bastardo Reyes, a resident of Beltsville, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts to save him, Victor Bastardo Reyes succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.
In the days following the shooting, the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit took charge of the investigation. Detectives began working to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting, seeking to identify a suspect or suspects and determine a motive for the crime.
