Howard Coleman-Patton, a 35-year-old man, was found on the evening of June 7, 2025, slumped over the wheel of a car in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, in the 2000 block of East 79th Street. Police said he had been shot in the right arm, and a 4-year-old boy seated in the back of the vehicle was unharmed.
Officers and paramedics took Coleman-Patton to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:46 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s
office cited by reporters. Detectives said no one was in custody and did not release information about a suspect or motive.
Public records tracking gun violence in the city logged the case on June 7 with the same South Shore location details, and memorial pages later listed his name and age among Chicago’s 2025 homicide victims. As of the reports available from that weekend and subsequent summaries, authorities had not announced any arrests.
