Benjamin Francis, 59, a Black male, was shot on the evening of September 7, 2025, during a confrontation on the 4300 block of Rockport Lane in unincorporated Bowie, Maryland. Officers responding around 6:30 p.m. found him outside with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.
