John Wesley Thomas, 63, male, was found dead on May 23, 2025, in a wooded area off the 300 block of Guill Cemetery Road in Hancock County, near his home in Sparta, Georgia. Authorities said the discovery prompted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to open a case at the request of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, with an autopsy ordered to determine cause and manner of death.
