In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Louisville, Kentucky, the life of 23-year-old Eric Jerome Watson II was tragically cut short. On August 13, 2025, in the Klondike neighborhood, a shooting occurred that would ultimately lead to Watson's death. Louisville Metro Police were dispatched to an apartment complex on Mid Dale Lane around 11:30 p.m. following reports of the shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Watson with a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services transported Eric Watson II to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later, early on Thursday, August 14, 2025. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later officially identified him as the victim of the fatal shooting.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the investigation quickly focused on a suspect who had barricaded himself inside an apartment within the same complex where the shooting took place. A standoff ensued, but the individual later surrendered to the authorities without further incident. The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is leading the ongoing investigation into Watson's death.
