In the summer of 2025, the life of 19-year-old Jermiaha Charles Billups was tragically cut short in Indianapolis. A young man with a promising future, he was known for his ambition and hardworking nature. He had recently graduated from North Central High School with a certification in welding and had started his own lawn care business called 'Cut It LLC'.
His aspirations also included higher education, as he had been accepted to Ivy Tech College.
On the morning of Friday, June 13, 2025, a grim discovery was made on the city's near west side. Around 9:30 a.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call about a person down in an alleyway in the 1100 block of North Tibbs Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a young man who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as Jermiaha Charles Billups, and it was determined that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's homicide detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Billups's death.
