In a tragic turn of events on a Monday evening in Atlanta, a dispute between drivers escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 62-year-old Remoin Thomas Patton Sr. The incident, which unfolded on June 16, 2025, began as a verbal altercation while Patton was attempting to make a turn on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW. The argument took a deadly turn when the other driver produced a firearm and shot Patton in the back.
The force of the gunshot caused Patton to lose control of
his vehicle, which then crashed into a vacant home nearby. When officers responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m., they found Patton deceased from the gunshot wound. The senseless act of violence cut short the life of a man affectionately known as 'Uncle Moonie,' who was also the uncle of Antwan 'Big Boi' Patton, one half of the iconic hip-hop duo OutKast. In a statement, Big Boi expressed the family's profound grief, saying, 'a moment of rage has in totally pierced the heart of my family forever.'
The investigation into Remoin Patton's death led to two arrests. On June 20, 2025, Janisha Crumbley, 32, was arrested and charged with hindering the apprehension of a felon. She was later released on a $30,000 bond. Shortly after, on July 2, 18-year-old Jabyrion Crumbley turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail. He faces multiple serious charges, including murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and is being held without bail. The relationship between the two suspects has not been publicly clarified by authorities as the investigation continues.
