Rasheed Walker, 23, a Black/African American male, was standing outside in a strip mall parking lot in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood late on Saturday, July 19, 2025, when gunfire erupted around 11:45 p.m. in the 100 block of West 87th Street just off the Dan Ryan Expressway. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner.
