Kandra Hillard, 37, a Black/African American woman, was found fatally wounded in an alley off the 7500 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing/Chatham area in the early hours of July 19, 2025. Police said gunfire came from a passing vehicle; Hillard was struck in the abdomen and pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a man, was shot in the knee and survived.
