In the late afternoon of July 10, 2025, the life of 38-year-old Amanda Dianne DuBois was tragically cut short in a shooting that unfolded in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery store in Terre Haute, Indiana. The incident, which stunned the local community, was later determined by the Vigo County Sheriff's Office to be a murder-suicide.
Amanda was the driver of a vehicle that crashed into the front of the store with minimal damage.
Inside the car with her was 33-year-old Dustin Tubbs, who was identified as the passenger. According to the investigation, Tubbs shot DuBois before turning the gun on himself. DuBois was pronounced dead at the scene. Tubbs was critically injured and later died.
A small girl was also in the car at the time of the shooting. She managed to escape the vehicle unharmed and ran into the Kroger for help. The investigation by the Vigo County Sheriff's Office concluded that Tubbs was the perpetrator in the murder of DuBois before he took his own life.
Amanda DuBois was a mother to six children. Her obituary describes her as a person full of love and light, known for her kindness, sarcasm, and motivation. She was remembered as someone who 'loved as hard as she worked' and who could seemingly do anything, from 'rocking motherhood' to 'fixing anything with a motor.' Her sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of her family and friends.
