On June 30, 2025, 38-year-old Alberto Garcia Hernandez Duran, a man from Wasco, was found shot inside his vehicle on the right shoulder of southbound Interstate 5, just south of Highway 46 near Lost Hills. He managed to pull over and call 911, but died while being taken to the hospital by emergency personnel. The Kern County Coroner's Office later identified him as 38-year-old Alberto Garcia Hernandez Duran.
